The Role of Khan Khudadad Khan in Pakistan Movement, 1938-1947: An Appraisal
Abstract
Muslim leadership’s role to popularize All-India Muslim League (AIML) in every nook and
corner of the British India had made it possible to realize the dream of a separate
homeland for the Indian Muslims. In this regard, regional leaders’ services have not been
given proper attention and, hence, are lesser recognized. Khan Khudadad Khan is one of
the renowned personality of Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, who
played key role in the Pakistan Movement. He popularized the AIML in Hazara and played
a significant role in the elections of 1946. Later, he and other Muslim League leaders
encouraged the Muslims to vote for Pakistan during referendum in KP, previously North
West Frontier Province (NWFP). This research highlights the role of Khan Khudadad
Khan in the Pakistan Movement and his services in the post-independence era. Historical
and descriptive research method has been used in this study that employed both primary
and secondary sources.
