Attitudes of Parents towards Contemporary Female Higher Education in District Mansehra KP, Pakistan
Abstract
This study aims to explore and reveal the attitude of parents towards the higher
education of female. The population for this study is parents of female students offour
colleges of district Mansehra in Hazara Division. The sample of the study consists of
fifteen parents (both) of each college selected randomly. Hence, total sample for the
study was consisted of 60 individuals. The findings of the study depicted positive
thinking and opinions of parents towards higher education of their daughters. But the
shortage of human and physical capital for 'girls' education is reflected in the area. The
respondents of the study acknowledged the paternalistic domination in society.
Thus,parents take most of the decisionsabout the future of their daughters. Further, the
respondents agreed that Islam gives high level of value to 'women's education
subsequently, parents should promote women's education in the province. To support
the argument first-hand data was obtained through a survey feedback of 60 individuals
among the selected institutions. This study discloses the attitudes of parents towards
higher education for female.
